June 27th-29th, 2008 - Three days of cycling in beautiful and sometimes challenging southern Oregon.
Here we go again, time for our club’s annual jaunt to southern Oregon. The Ashland area offers splendid riding, many choices for food and accomodations, and culture if you can take it. Evenings provide the chance to enjoy the Shakespearian Festival for which Ashland is so well known. Information and tickets are available at Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Othello, Our Town, and The Comedy of Errors are performed on the Elizabethan Stage. Other possibilities include a play at the Oregon Cabaret Theatre or just relax and enjoy the summer evening while strolling through Lithia Park and downtown Ashland.
Each day includes a non-group ride, usually between 50 and 60 miles, some with shorter loops as an option. A shorter ride will be offered on Sunday, leaving time for the drive home. Rides typically include re-groups for lunch. The routes are challenging but within most PWTC riders’ abilities. Start times and routes may change with the weather; so let me know if you are coming down.
There is no cost for Ashland Weekend itself but riders are responsible for their own meals, accommodations, and entertainment. Camping is available at Emigrant Lake Park. Swim in the lake after the ride and watch the stars around the campfire at night. Several people including myself are camping. There are lots of motel choices, but make reservations early for accomodations and plays, as Ashland is quite a busy little town.
